Welcome to the University Scholars Program!

The Scholars program is a vibrant community of high achieving students at Stony Brook. With this program, you can make connections with our world class faculty, participate in numerous activities, and obtain leadership and research opportunities on campus. The purpose is to create a community of learners focused around leadership, scholarship, and academic excellence.

University Scholars is a four year program. The Scholars admitted into this program are among the top 7% of the incoming class academically. Freshmen have the option to live with other Scholars within the six Undergraduate Colleges and take classes within the Scholars sections of first-year seminars. All Scholars are eligible to attend special symposia and field trips, obtain special academic advising, participate in the Scholars Council and Executive Board, help with mentoring, tutoring, and various outreach activities, and obtain priority registration for classes.

The Scholars staff (Jeremy Marchese, Dr. David Maynard, and myself) are here to help you reach your goals and to make your Stony Brook experience successful, rewarding, and fun. We look forward to meeting you and working with you.

Best wishes,

Prof. Brian A. Colle
